Alpina Sunglasses
Alpina Sunglasses is the top producer of snow goggles in Germany. Alpina
International is a result of Werner Grau and Hagen Stockklausner’s combined
effort. They produced first range of Alpina Sunglasses in 1980 in Friedberg-Derching,
Germany. The range mainly comprises of sport sunglasses. The idea was to
provide such an eyewear to the athlete that is safe and looks trendy at the
same time. An athlete has a lot of pressure in his mind while competing i.e.
extreme climates, and safety of eye. Alpina is designed in a manner to
provide both. No matter what sport you are in, skiing or climbing, riding or
cycling Alpina Sunglasses protects your sight and increases performance.
With this first launch the company gained a top name now with continuous
effort. Alpina International is not only famous in Germany for its snow
goggles but also competes in a global market.
ALPINA EYEWEAR:
Enthusiastic drive, ideas galore and the ALPINA brand name: equipped with
these assets, Werner Grau and Hagen Stockklausner launched ALPINA in
Friedberg-Derching near Augsburg (Germany) in 1980. Today, ALPINA
International is a leading manufacturer of sports and sunglasses as well as
high-end frames, ranking as the number one producer of snow goggles in
Germany. Some key statistics: ALPINA has over 40 % market share with snow
goggles on the German domestic market. Two strong subsidiaries in Austria
and Switzerland account for roughly a third of ALPINA's total sales volume.
Among the most
popular and top-selling ALPINA product groups in all three countries are
ALPINA helmets for biking and skiing.
From its
Bavarian home base at Friedberg-Derching, ALPINA International exports its
products to 35 countries around the globe. ALPINA snow goggles can be
spotted on the slopes of the United States as well as those of Japan, while
ALPINA sunglasses provide protection in the Saudi-Arabian deserts as
effectively as in those of Kazakhstan. One of the best-known ALPINA products
next to snow goggles - and the top-selling sports eyewear in the world - is
SWING, the light sports glass model with adjustable bows. Sporting numerous
design updates since its launch in 1982, SWING continues to boost volumes at
ALPINA's Bavarian production plant - including a Pro Sport Optic-version for
athletes requiring corrective lenses. In the field of technology, ALPINA has
consistently been a trend-setter, featuring such innovations as ceramic lens
technology developed in 1992. These unbreakable polycarbonate lenses have
provided ALPINA with an undisputed competitive edge, contributing to the
company's leading market position in Europe. Hilde Georg's 1998 slalom
Olympic victory impressively confirmed that QUATTROFLEX technology developed
by ALPINA ensures clear vision for athletes even under extremely inclement
weather conditions.
To offset the
impact of weather in the sports sector, ALPINA added 'optical products' as a
second pillar to its business.
Meanwhile,
ALPINA International is offering a total of 10 frame brands and has joined
the major league of players on the German market.
After 20
years, many members of ALPINA's original team are still with the company.
ALPINA is currently employing 90 people at its Friedberg-Derching marketing
and sales center, with a continuing trend towards further growth.
