History of Carrera Sunglasses

Established in 1956, Carrera makes sports eyewear, ski helmets and goggles for the sports enthusiast. The name comes from the "Carrera Panamerica", an automobile race that covers all of Mexico. With a company philosophy of “…great enthusiasm for sports and the desire to be number one--always,” Carrera has gone on to become one of the top-rated companies in the sports sector for over fifty years.

The Technology

Technology is a key factor in Carrera sunglasses. This technology encompasses three important factors:

Ergonomics:
Because no two faces are alike, Carrera works extensively with world class athletes to produce eyewear that pays close attention to aerodynamic shapes. The product of this innovative research is sunglasses that adhere perfectly to one’s facial structure, while providing the very height in comfort and durability.

Air System:
The Carrera sunglass models that feature this unique system are outfitted by special vents located on the lens itself, or just ahead of the temple joint. This technology ensures that air is deflected into these vents, and there, they generate a slight vacuum feel on the internal side of the frame. Due to these vents, sunglasses that would otherwise fog in turbulent weather, won’t.

Optical Adapter:
This feature allows the wearer of correction lenses to be able to use sports eyewear. Note that this feature is sold separately.

Hi-Performance

The C20 SKI:

Igor:

Among the features included are the 100% UV protection, adjustable temple ends, flash mirror; a mirror coating that enhances the lens and reduces the amount of light reaching the eyes, and Grilamid, a highly resistant material that allows the sunglass to retain its shape.
Sport Fashion

For those of us who don’t train like a top athlete but love looking like one, there is the Sport Fashion category. Housed in this category are sixteen different types of sunglasses designed to keep us looking fit and fabulous. All the products featured in this category offer 100% UV protection and the flash mirror technology. They are impact/scratch resistant, and have optyl; a hypo-allergenic material that ensures a lightweight feel, while maximizing the lenses’ color transparency.

Everyday

Ocean Wave:
