Porsche Design Sunglasses
Ever
since the introduction of the Porsche Design brand by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972, discriminating consumers have sought the classic functionality and timelessness of Porsche Design products. Well known on a global scale for its technical innovation in engineering, this luxury brand is now available in eyewear through Tuscany Eyewear’s exclusive distribution in United States.
Collection Fundamentals
The Porsche Design line consists of two collections, a Porsche Design ophthalmic collection and Porsche Design Sunglasses. The line includes 33 ophthalmic frames, 29 sunglasses, and a reader that the designer calls "reading tools". While it is primarily a men’s line, a number of pieces could be considered unisex. Targeted to men aged 35 to 55 who have an affinity for luxury, technology, and design, the Porsche Design collections feature a unique European look that is sophisticated but with a modern flair.
Materially Speaking
Titanium is the primary material used, representing 85% to 90% of the collection. Others include a titanium/plastic combination, stain-less steel, aluminum, polyamide, and carbon fiber. There are also three ophthalmic models and one sunglass style that use 18-karat gold. Style No. P8106, for example, is a very masculine modified rectangle available in gold and white gold.
Color Palette
Porsche Design frames have a limited range of colors. Black, titanium, and metallic predominate; other colors available include silver, brown, palladium matte, gray-blue matte, antique bronze matte, dark gray, and antique blue matte. Each style usually comes in three colors.
Shaping Up
The entire collection includes rimless, semi-rimless, and full-rimmed styles and the sunwear models offers shields and semi-wraps. One of my favorite rimless models is Style No. P6035-S1 shape. It is a very masculine, well-balanced square rimless style in titanium and comes in light gold matte, titanium matte, antique blue matte, and dark gray.
In addition, the collection includes a number of half-eyes. One particularly striking example is Style No. P8002, a well-balanced titanium model that is available in light gold matte, titanium matte, and dark gray.
Lens Changes
Four of the sunglasses have two sets of interchangeable lenses. Be sure to check out Style No. P8433, a retro classic sunglass design from 1978. The look is the same, but it’s been updated by using stainless steel. It’s available in four colors with two sets of interchangeable lenses.
Reading Tool
For convenience and utility, the collection includes readymade reading tools too. Stainless steel Style No. P8801 features ergon-omically designed earpieces made of plastic. It’s available in four powers: +1.00D, +1.50D, +2.00D, and +2.50D.
Merchandising Materials
Manufacturer support includes a wide range of point-of-purchase materials including dispensing trays, counter cards, posters, banners, caps, umbrellas, displays, and furniture. Tuscany also provides a display recommendation sheet that will assist dispensers in setting up displays to enhance the entire collection. As you might expect from products with the Porsche Design name, frames are warranted for two years against defects.
With the wide assortment of styles offered in this line, there’s something to offer most of your male patients. All you really need to do is show them the frame’s name—they’ll make the quality and style connection all by themselves.
Porsche Design presents a new sunglasses collection, which is distinguished by its striking shapes and sporty lines. With its sporty, simple lines, model P’8454 has an especially dynamic effect. In the process, the discretely flowing design creates an interesting counterpoint to the masculine basic shape. Made of high-tech plastic and with high-quality titanium hinges, these sunglasses provide ideal protection for the eyes with their sporty curved front. By using these two materials, the sunglasses are very comfortable to wear, and the model can be used with correction lenses as well.
The nose-piece and lugs of model P'8456 are convincing due to the three-dimensional look resulting from the frontal titanium elements placed in the lenses. The sunglasses have a particularly high-quality effect due to the screw-free fastening of the lenses.
The two sunglasses models P’8457 and P’8458, which are both made of titanium, have a sporty and modern appearance. The reduced design of the sides means individual styling. They are attached in two pieces and taper down to a one-piece end piece. While model P‘8457 has a continuous nose-piece, model P’8458 has a slightly displaced and hence more decorative nose-piece.
Porsche Design is a global luxury men’s brand and is determined by engineered products. Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche established the Porsche Design brand in 1972, whose products are attracting consumers with their technical innovation and represent functionality and timelessness in its purest form. Porsche Design products are sold in own retail and franchise stores, shop-in-shops, up-market department stores and exclusive specialist stores. SunglassExpo.com is proud to be one of the authorized Porsche Design Eyewear online retailers.
